Dear Children and Families,

Great Job performing last night Team 72!

Social Studies Homework: 

1.  Bring  Back  Blue!  Please work through the blue worksheet with your child.  Fill in the blanks for your family and return it to school by next Wednesday.  It is okay for you to do the writing, however, your child must know what it says because they will be sharing with their classmates. Please do not just fill it out for them!

2.  Please bring in photos of family, friends, sports teams, clubs (Groups) that I am part of.  We are using the photos to help us talk about people that help us meet our needs.  The photos will be returned to you.  Bring the photos to school by next Wednesday.  Thanks!

Reminders:

-Return Family Movie Night form

-Social Studies:  Please bring in photos and blue sheet by Dec 14.

-It’s COLD!!!!! Dress warm every day with snowpants, boots, jackets, hats and mitts!

Today:

We are learning to read.  We practiced reading to self and reading to someone.  Ask me to tell you about the books in my book bin.

In writing we created thinking caps to help us think while we are reading and writing.  Ask me what mine looks like. 

In word work we used the letters p l t s n e a to make words. 

In math we used a special number line to talk about the temperature.

Ask me what I did during phys ed.

We listened to a story called The Family Book by Todd Parr

We watched the Peace Wing Grade ½ Christmas Concert today.  Ask me what it was about.

We talked about very important people in Social Studies today.  Us!  Our families are made up of important people who help us meet our needs.

Tomorrow’s Class Leader: Rowan (remember to bring a picture to share.  A photograph or a picture you have drawn yourself)

Team 72 Christmas Concert Tonight!

Dear Children and Families:

Tonight is Team 72’s Christmas Concert!  Students and families are to be at the school at 5:45 pm. Concert starts at 6pm.  Entry into the concert will be a donation of a new/gently used toy, money or food. The proceeds from the week will be donated to Penbrooke Meadows School with some held back to support some of our families.  

Team 72’s community walk has been cancelled for tomorrow due to not enough parent volunteers.

- 2^nd Annual Family Christmas Movie Night form went home today to the ‘family list’ only

Today:

We started our day doing our spelling centres. 

We read to ourselves and read with a buddy while Ms. Collins did guided reading.

We had gym today with Mrs. Quilley in the music room.  We did yoga!

We had a morning practice for our concert.  We did great!

After another indoor lunch we started the afternoon having a good body break. 

 We played word work games, practicing all of our word wall words.

We had our Dress Rehearsal this afternoon!  We had a large audience to watch us!  We great did excellent J

We ended the day drawing and working on our science projects.

Cold Monday with Team 72!

Dear Children and Families:

We were able to accommodate all the families that requested extra tickets for tomorrow’s concert.  The tickets will be at the doors when you come J  Students are suppose to be at the school at 5:45 pm. Concert starts at 6pm.  Entry into the concert will be a donation of a new/gently used toy, money or food. -    Tomorrow Tuesday December 6^th is Team 72 Christmas Concert at Cranston School.  Students performing are to be at the school at 5:45 pm.  Students are to dress nicely for their occasion J  Martians (Carsen only) can wear black or green.

-    Dress Rehearsal for Team 72 tomorrow Tuesday December 6^th at 1:00 pm – families are able to attend this performance as well; no tickets needed

-    Community Walk Wednesday December 7^th – if we get enough parent volunteers

Today:

We started our day doing our spelling centres.

In Science, Team 72 worked really hard on their dens/burrows.  We even painted them if we wanted to.

In math, we practiced representing single and double digits in different ways, as well as, practiced estimating.

We had music and a body break today.  Tell your parents what we did for our body break. (Hint: Dragon)

Today:

We read to self and read to someone.

During writing we jumped into a book!  We talked about accessing our prior knowledge to understand what the writer is trying to tell us.

We listened to Shelia Rae the Brave by Kevin Henkes.  Ask me how I used my prior knowledge to understand this story.

In word work we played the Making Words game. We used the vowels a  and   i.

In math we had time to use our pattern centres.

Constable Kerry was our guest today and we talked about our strengths.

We rehearsed our Xmas Concert songs with Mrs McBride.
