Team 72 Classroom Information

Dear Families of Team 72,

We have had a great week getting to know the children and are very excited for the year of learning together ahead of us.

Job Share Teachers
Mrs Collins and Ms MacMillan are a job share team.  That means we share the teaching responsibilities for this class.   We have both spent this first week of school together with the students to build a sense of community.  Our schedule for the remainder of the year is Mrs Collins will be teaching Monday and Tuesday, Ms MacMillan will be teaching Wednesday and Thursday.  We will be alternating teaching on Fridays.  We maintain very close communication with each other and are committed to providing an excellent academic and social environment for your children.

Meet the Teacher Night
Our first Parent – Teacher meeting is September 22 from 6:30 to 7:30pm.  We are looking forward to meeting you as well.  Should you need to contact us prior to this evening please call the school 403 777 6267 or email us lgmacmillan@cbe.ab.ca or clcollins@cbe.ab.ca.  We will be sure to respond to you within 24 hours during the work week.

Blog
We use a daily blog to communicate about your child’s day and school news.  You can find the link to our blog via the Cranston School website under Teacher Blogs or go directly to cranstonteam72.blogspot.ca.  Please review these messages daily for important information.

Volunteers
We are very excited to welcome parent volunteers with a current police clearance to help out throughout the year.  Please contact us if you are able to help out in the classroom, on field trips or for special events.

Class Leader
Students will be taking turns being the Class Leader of the day. We will post whose turn it is in our blog.  In addition to helping out in the room they are allowed to bring one item that fits in their backpack to share in a “Show and Tell” public speaking opportunity with their classmates.  Please do not send anything breakable or irreplaceable.

Home Reading
Home reading is a very important part of helping your child learn to read.  Our home reading program will begin September 22, 2016 and we will send more information on the date.

Raz Kids and Mathletics
Our school has purchased accounts for each student to use an online reading and math practice website.  These sites provide excellent practice opportunities for students to develop their skills in a fun and interactive way.  We will have the login and password information to you by September 30th so your child can participate at home.

See you the evening of September 22nd.  We are looking forward to a great year together!

Ms MacMillan and Mrs Collins
