Dear Children and Families,
Reminders:
POWER WORDS: that, for, or, as,
his
-Scholastic Book order due Monday
-Remember to read your home reading
book or use Raz-Kids tonight. Good
readers practice every day!
-For Class Leader Show and Tell you
must now bring a book you would recommend to your friends. What is your favourite story?
-Halloween Howler forms came home today.
Today:
In reading we read to someone (a
partner or a book buddy), then read to self.
Reading practice is an important part of our daily routine. Students read books at their “just right”
level to practice the words they know in order to develop their fluency
(reading that sounds as natural as talking) and comprehension (understanding
what they are reading).
We listened to a story called Don’t
let the Pigeon Stay up Late by Mo Willems.
During writing we selected a piece we
have written to turn into a book next week.
Authors write for themselves sometimes, and sometimes to share their
ideas with others.
During math we made sound patterns
with our bodies.
We had special
time with Mrs McBride today. Ask me what
we did.
Monday’s
Class Leader: Liam
(Declan and Grayden get time to share since they didn’t get time to
share today – sorry boys!)
Mrs Collins will be with the children
Monday and Tuesday. See you Wednesday!
