What is Important about a Lodgepole Pine?

Dear Children and Families,

Reminders:
-Return Swimming Permission Forms, pay your fees online
-Tree Homework due back next Wednesday: bring in or email a tree photo and your gray paper
-Home Reading
-Half Day Tomorrow

Important Words:

POWER WORDS:            practice any 5 you like!
These are words we are learning to read and spell.

ACADEMIC WORDS:         Arctic   Inukshuk
                          Research   Tree  Lodgepole Pine
These are words that we are learning to understand the meaning of in math and social studies.

Today:

We read to self, read to someone.

We read for 30 minutes.

We searched our books for facts that could help us answer our questions about trees.  Researchers start learning something new by starting with what they already know.  Remember to complete your homework about a Tree in your Community!

In word work we listened for blend sounds.

In math we used place value blocks to help us add.  We tested out new math centres.

We played a great game during gym.

During social studies we searched for facts about the provincial trees of Alberta and Nunavut.

Blog Question:  Why do you think Nunavut does not have a provincial tree?

Tomorrow’s Class Leader: Grayden (remember to bring a stuffy to share!)

Ms Collins will be with the students Friday, Monday and Tuesday.  See you Wednesday!

  1. trees can't grow in ice or snow and it would be really cold too.

  2. Nunavut is snowy and icy that's why it's not easy for tree to grow. There is a lot of ice on the top of roots.
And the air is also very cold that is why tree cannot grow there. Retaj Khan
