Great Day for Team 72!

Dear Children and Families;

For the Remembrance Day assembly on Thursday November 10, students who are members of Scouts Canada (i.e. Beavers/Cubs); Girl Guides Canada (i.e. Sparks/Brownies); or Cadets are invited to wear their uniforms for the day.

Reminders:

-    Book Exchange is Monday November 14th.
-    No School Friday November 11th.

Today:

We read to ourselves and read with a buddy while Ms. Collins did guided reading.  Readers were asked to find and read as many power words they could find.

Power words this week are; about,  has,  go,  we,  me.  We made sentences as a group for each word then wrote the words in our word work books.  When we were finished we practiced our power words by ‘Saying it’, ‘Building it’ and ‘Writing it’.

In writing, we made our topics for taking care of our plants and pets.

In Math, we worked with ten frames.  We are making numbers from 11 to 20 using ten frames in our visual journals.  Today is the 42nd day of school.  How did we make the number 42 using ten frames?

We had music and gym today.  Please tell your parents what you did.

In science, we ended the day finishing a short video by National Geographic called ‘Where do Animals go in Winter?’

The following are quotes from Team 72 when asked, “What did you learn?”

- ‘Some fish die in the winter when lakes freeze from top to
bottom.’ - Caroline
- ‘Mice dig under the ground to hibernate.’ - Declan
- ‘Some animals don't mind the cold like bears and elk.’ - Hannah
- ‘Some animals store lots of food like squirrels.’ - Annie
- ‘Snakes go underground in burrows and caves.’ - Kaitlyn
- ‘Some small song birds die in the winter because its too cold for them and they don't have enough food.’ - Parker and Ellie
- ‘Bison have large heads to dig into the snow to find grass.’ - Addisyn
- ‘Some birds fly south in the winter because its warmer and they can find food.’ - Sam
- ‘Bees hibernate in trees in winter.’ – Xander
- ‘Fish don't mind the cold water.’ - Anthony
- ‘Bears eat a lot before winter to get ready to hibernate.’ - Brooke

Happy Birthday Wesley!
